Hello,

I have been working with laptops + auxiliary monitor for a long time. Now I have my old Acer Aspire 3000 and an external Sony monitor working with Ubuntu 11.04, great!!!, but...

I see the same image the monitors. If I go to screen adjustments I only see one monitor, ever if I push detect button.

I had try .... OK don't want to spent your time. Does someone solved these problem.

Best regards,

Victor

Hi,
I too have this problem, In fact if I have a second monitor plugged in my Aspire stops responding to mouse and keyboard after a few seconds and requires hard re-boot

Any advice gratefully received.

Cheers Aggie

What video adapter? Have you installed a driver from "Additional Drivers"?

hi guys, good day.
I installed ubuntu 11.04 on DELL Inspiron R13. Additional drivers installed successfully (AMD / ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative)) . Ubuntu requires restart once i activate HDTV connection. switch monitor keyboard button is not working either (button beside esc or Fn+F1 key).

How can i activate / deactivate > 1 monitor without restarting the system?

Thank you.

Thanks, have come back to try this again with 11.10, but still the same problem. Have tried additional drivers, but it just says I have no proprietary drivers.

Manual says SiS M760GX integrated 3D graphics

I have tried adding sisfb to modules as suggested elsewhere, but still the keyboard and mouse freeze after a few second :(

Any help gratefully accepted!

I'm sorry to say, SiS is a low-end, poorly supported line.
