I have 11.04 on a disc that i used in one of my Dell laptops that worked just fine. When I boot the disc on my Toshiba the screen goes purple and says ubuntu and then the screen goes black showing just a white blinking dash and doesn't do anything else. Doesn't matter how i try and boot it, I tried Wubi and manually booting it.

Model please? I have a Tosh Sat Pro L510 ... might be able to help.

PS: Forget Wubi, problematic. When in the purple screen have you tried pressing Esc?

Perhaps try the current long-term support release, 10.04 LTS and see if you get the same issues. More stable and much better place to start. ;)

I used to have an A100, but currently have one of the M200 range. Some releases of Ubuntu were problematical for me on the A100 because of the amount of RAM it had. How much does your machine have?
