Don't laugh too hard but I re-installed Ubuntu 10.04 this time using the Alternate CD for disk encryption. After installation completed I rebooted and all I get is the GRUB RESCUE> prompt. The computer can't be booted and I tried using the Recover whatever-it-is function from the CD but nothing got fixed. It's a dual boot machine (XP) and Ubuntu.

How can this be fixed?

That site's a nice idea but a mess to figure out. Also, I'm not impressed by what the author says about the encrypted drive being cracked (or whatever word you want to use). There's plenty of information out there saying it'll be mighty difficult to do so. So, excluding a few computer science/NSA types the data I've read says cracking the thing will be mighty difficult if at all.

On another computer I did the LVM encrypted installation with no problem....except that it did take a long time.

So the problem remains unsolved.
