I guess the reason I wonder about this is because I think about all the Windows user who are using Linux in a round about way. Every windows user who visits any of my websites, visits one that was developed on Linux based system using open source software.

there are thousands of websites being developed on Linux everyday and the developers have umpteenth reasons for they chose Linux over windows.

I dont think it matters as for the most part web sites and apps are independant of the platform, it is all to do with the browser, though there are platform compatabilities with each browser and such like, a app or site developed on linux and hosted on linux i dont think is any likelier to view or load or work better on a machine running linux that is viewing it or on a MS machine or Mac.

Linux flash issues are not results of the sites being developed on MS, and vice versa.

I think it is more the developer rather than the development environment.

But as long as the backbone of the net is *nix then at least we can hope for a longer uptime ;-)

I wonder how many of the popular sites like facebook, google, yahoo etc. are developed and hosted on Linux? I know we will never know but it would make the world see just how much of the Internet is Linux not MS.

Facebook is developed on Linux and using open source software as well as hosted on linux.

http://developers.facebook.com/opensource/ and it is hosted on Big IP servers.

Google is linux also for the most part

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_platform

Yahoo uses linux.

And Apache is the most popular web server for the internet

I wonder why it matters?
Most of the food and goods I buy are transported by trucks or trains. Does this mean I`m more likely to drive one? or that I want to get transported between packaged meat because I like eating that?
