Compiz can easily do that.

Install CCSM:

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

Go to System > Preferences > CompizConfig Settings Manager or search the Dash if using Unity. In the CCSM search box, type 'Preview' and enable the plugin. You can click it for changing some settings also.

You obviously need 3D accelerated graphics card/drivers for Compiz to work.

Dockbarx is really helpful to get the same Windows7 previews and also those "Jump lists"

check the installation instructions Andrew, of Webupd8, made here (http://www.webupd8.org/2011/02/dockbarx-applet-043-released-with.html).

I seem to be having the same conversation with you across *MANY* different places. So I'll say it again in case you didn't get it the first time from your post on linuxquestions.org as one example:

* You can't do this natively in FVWM *

That's the best and only answer.
