View Full Version : Interesting Issue.

Okay, so I recently got my laptop fixed (power supply issue - HP are bastards).
When loading up it seems I lost my windows installation completely before it got fixed (I don't know the details) but hey-hoh! It's only vista, so I thought I would go back to some good old Ubuntu.
Here comes the issue...
I put in my 64-bit dist (I have tried both 32 and 64 bit [my laptop is 64bit]) and...not much. It eventually loaded after about 2 hours of intense frustration.
I try to install but it gets stuck for about 30 minutes after every screen and rarely went past the first.
I thought - well my hard drive is kinda screwed up, maybe i'll try a different one - and so i do ( a blank one).
Same problem, it takes ages to load and so I give up.
I then take out the hard drive completely and it loads in about 5 minutes.
Here's my question(s) - I'm loading it from a live CD, why is my hard drive affecting it?
Is there anything i can do about this problem (inability to install) or am I pretty screwed?

Much Appreciate

Andrew
