Ok, so we've all seen the new dark grey panel going across the top of Google's pages. Now that I'm on plus, I notice that the tabs up top related to the social networking stuff get this white glow around them when activated. It really reminds me of the lighting effects in unity lenses.

Google does use it's own tweaked version of Ubuntu on their developer work stations... right? You don't think... do you?

I think it's just you, and no, I've not seen the 'new dark grey panel'. Where is it?
Ultimately though, free software is all about sharing, so what does it matter who takes ideas from who?

Every design in the world was influenced by Ubuntu because it is the flagship of good design. Not only that, but every feature and function in Windows and OS X came from Linux! Those proprietary scumbags!

Well, some call it stealing or free riding, even in the free software communities.

It's been a growing design trend for some time now; clean, simple, and possibly infantile.

At least it's easy enough to navigate.

the new google top panel bar was made black so that users woould take notice to new services.

it actually looks much like Cuil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuil) did before it folded, which was created by ex-google employees. Cuil even had facebook integration so users could search for their friends, much like Google+ features are supposed to work in the future.
