Hi there I am thinking about buying this http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=alfa+wireless+card&hl=en&client=ubuntu&hs=nU5&channel=cs&prmd=ivns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1366&bih=607&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=10641762378414073808&sa=X&ei=rkYaTveGGebm0QHA15WXBQ&ved=0CFoQ8wIwAQ

what do you think is this a good idea or not? would be nice to sit at the cafe down the street and still have my own wifi. has any one had experience with these things?

Desnaike How far are you from the AP? The OP link says 1mi... that seems hopeful if you live in the city. Trees absorb signal like mad and not to mention metal buildings and other things that get in the way. If you don't think anything like that will get in the way, by all means go for it. Especially to bum that neighbors internet that is just a hair out of reach. ;)

It may also be against the law to radiate signals at that power on that band, never mind wiping out every body else's signals on adjacent channels.....
