Hello,

I was working with 3D graphics in Ubuntu 10.10 and my Dell Studio XPS 16's performance wasn't the best it could be. Then I installed the propietary drivers (ATI Catalyst) for my ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 and FPS doubled. So... what's the problem?

I have two screens and the main one (the laptop's) has a resolution up to 1920x1080. Before I could get the highest resolution but with ATI Catalyst Center I only get 1440x900 and the image quality is very poor.

The thing is that when I installed the drivers I used the Ubuntu default screen manager and there wasn't any problem. It was when I used ATI Catalyst Center for the very first time. After than the default manager couldn't do anything either.

Any ideas without going back to poor performance?

Thanks!
