Since it has been announced that 11.10 will likely ship with thunderbird instead of evolution (http://tech.slashdot.org/story/11/07/07/140204/Thunderbird-Unseats-Evolution-In-Ubuntu-1110), I now am wondering how i am going to migrate my mail spool to the new application.

Is there a migration/import utility to transfer mail/contact/settings from evolution to thunderbird?

pop3. i delete the mail off the server periodically (since webmail can't really be trusted to remain private), so the only copies of them are in my evolution spool. the mail messages themselves are my biggest concern. I can recreate the settings, and the contacts remain on gmail, so no big deal if they were lost. just need a way to transfer several thousand emails to the new platform.

Copying the main mail folders from Evolution to Thunderbird works as advertised in this thread:
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-export-your-mails-from-evolution-to-thunderbird.html

I haven't been able to import the Address Book. Supposedly after installing the "MoreFunctionsforAddressBook" addon you can import the Address Book data by export/import as vCard data. I keep getting errors and have been unsuccessful so far. The AddOn has various settings, so it's possible I just haven't configured it correctly, but so far no luck.

And I haven't seen anything about Calendar import/export as yet.

Thanks! mail is better than nothing, and is most of what I need anyway.
