Hi, I'm once again returning to Ubuntu to see if it can fulfill my needs in an operating system. I'm very satisfied with the latest version and Unity, but I'm having some trouble finding drivers for all the components of the Gateway LX6810 (http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/LX/LX6810/LX6810nv.shtml).

It's got a handful of front ports that aren't working, and despite my googling I'm at a loss.

I'm an IT engineer very fluent with windows systems, but quite the linux noob. Any help would be awesome.

After thinking about it, maybe I should find out the motherboard and go that route. Might be more common than an obscure Gateway model.

Gateway is built around windows , but they use well known vendors for their motherboards . The problem I had was driver support for the multifunction key board and other things was very and short lived . When I upgraded the OS many things didn't work anymore and they stopped making drivers . I build my own computers now and I am not dependent on an OEM for drivers.

Using an apple keyboard, so that was pretty easy to find. I'm mostly having issues with the multitude of audio, video and card reader ports on the front and top of the box.
