0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: yesDr. Chili doesn't like this at all, but I think we can fix it. Please do:
sudo rmmod -f acer-wmiDoes your wireless spring to life? If so, let's banish acer-wmi forever:
sudo su
echo "blacklist acer-wmi" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
exitIf that doesn't do it, post back and we'll dig deeper.

Dr, thx that fixed it and both sections done and done. I have never touch anything but windows on a comp and want to lean this so I can install it on an old laptop for the kids and be able to do a little trouble shooting for them.

Awesome, Duke! Although, when I read "...Acer...wireless not working..." I was 90% sure I already knew the answer. It's always good to get a confirmation, though.

Post back if we can help you further and you might use Thread Tools at the top to Mark Solved. I wish they were all this easy!

This one helped me too. Just got an Acer Aspire 7551 and am setting it up for Linux/android/beagleboard development.
