According to an post from Engadget, Spotify is finally making it's U.S. debut. A site is up now for those interested in obtaining an invite. You can read more here: http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/06/spotify-is-coming-to-the-us-invites-are-open-now/

I loved the service when I got to use it for a week. Apparently, Spotify's popularity has gone down in Europe, is that true?

Darn, you beat me to it. I was just about to post a thread on this. Anyway, this is great. I'm glad the record companies finally gave in!

Screw the RIAA! They're stupid anyway.

If they did not like Spotify they would not have agreed to make their music available on the service.

They've severely restricted the usefulness of their free service, so they've probably lost net users, but I would imagine the number of subscribers has gone up. So while they might have less people, they're probably making more money.

I'm one of the users who has strayed (I was an early adopter), and now use http://www.we7.co.uk/, which is also free for me and even has fewer adverts. Win!

The doors are finally open: http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/its-here-spotify-lands-in-the-us/

I've been listening all morning (using WINE) and it's been working well. I might even spring for one of the paid subscriptions. As of now, free accounts can listen to unlimited music with the occasional ad.
