I really like IPA. Regular pale ale is a little bland, except Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/140/276) which seems to stick out form the bunch a little more.

I haven't tried any two side by side. But from what I can tell, they [IPAs] all mostly taste the same, not that that's a bad thing.

One that seems to stick out the most so far as the most bitter is Saranac IPA (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/99/1464), which is my current favorite. But like I said, I haven't tried any two side by side. More like, whenever I happen to be at a well-stocked bar I'll try a new one. Nor do I claim to be even an amateur level beer taster. I just know what I like.

Any other IPA fans here?

I love IPA

If enter a pub I've never been into before it's IPA first.

Only when I have felt the effects of a few pints does the possibility of trying anything else occur.

+1 for IPA

Vodka Rum or Tequila only beer sux.

Vodka Rum? That must be a new blend..

Tequila.. I know mexicans that will not drink this.. hehe
I only know alchoholic college kids or broke navy sailors to drink Tequila.. hehe :D

I am normally pretty easy to please.
Anything Sam Adams, Guinness or Chimay. Of course any micro brew in general thats red or darker. I also got some Blueberry Oatmeal Stout made my Wild Bills Brewery a few months back that was fantastic. I need to pick up some more.

As far liquor.
I am pretty much a fan of Grey Goose Vodka and Johnny Walker Black Label.

I really like IPA, much better than just Pale Ales... I am considering once my carboy is empty, brewing a really hop bomb IPA..

I used to drink a lot of it, but now not so much. Occasionally, I'll have an IPA shandy... really good drink for a summer afternoon!

Dogfish head 90 min IPA was always my favorite.

That said, I also really liked the Terrapin Hopsecutioner.

Check this:

http://wheatsheafhotel.com.au/drinks/bottled_beer

Only a couple of IPAs on there, but they're always there, and the pub has 'guest' beers, often IPAs. Lots of Australian made ones and the brewers come and give talks. The tap beer list is on another page but that excludes the guest beers.

Great pub and you can have a lot of experimental beer-tasting fun there (not to mention the scotch selection).

I love to try all kinds of beer. Preferably PAs and IPAs.

My fav is the Sierra Nevada PA.

Good beer will do that to you..

I dont get Budweiser and other commercial brewers. Why brew a quality beer and then squeeze it through 20 odd foot of layered filters to strip everything out of the beer. Its like making coolaid and then removing the coolaid.. Damn-it! Real men want coolaid!!

I tried Heineken once and didn't see what all the fuss was about. Tasted like most of the other generic pale lagers I've had. Although, beers can vary wildly in taste depending on what temperature it's served at and how old the bottles are. I'll have to try it again just to be sure. But even still, while not bad, I don't see how they justify the price.

I dont get Budweiser and other commercial brewers...
Same, most of the well-known popular beers (breweries like Sam Adams being the exception) taste pretty generic to me and I don't see what the huge followings are about. Especially since (where I live) there're locally brewed beers of the same style as the internationally sold ones that're both cheaper and have more flavor to boot.

Most people I've come across won't try anything new because they've "acquired a taste" for one single brand of beer (usually along the lines of Coors, MGD, Budweiser, etc) and can't drink anything else. Even though it doesn't really matter, those types of people really annoy me. I prefer IPAs, but if I'm at a bar and see something I've never had or can't even pronounce, I'll order it over something I know I like 9/10 times.

Sierra Nevada PA is probably my family's favorite PA.

Another brewery worth checking out is Great Lakes Brewing Company, out of Cleveland (see my avatar). My favorite is a porter, Edmund Fitzgerald; however Burning River, their PA is a highly rated PA at beeradvocate.com, and is another one of my favorites. Never tried their IPA, Lake Erie Monster, but it is rated "very good" at BA.

I prefer stouts & porters, but have recently developed a liking for PAs & IPAs. I'm always looking for good craft beer recommendations, since we have a great selection available here in Western NY at Beers of the World. They even stock my Ukrainian brother-in-law's favorite, Obolon.

Just had to jump in the discussion and add my 2 cents.

I love IPA's! That's my beer of choice. My favorites are the Sierra Nevada Torpedo and the Brooklyn IPA. Can't go wrong with either one, Cheers!

A little more about India Pale Ale:

The beer advocate (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/43/466) obviously does not know how to pour a bottle conditioned ale into a glass -- "cloudy," my lord -- one is supposed to leave the yeast in the bottle! Also, IPAs should be served at 'cellar temperature' (http://www.camra.org.uk/page.aspx?o=180651) !

Enjoy this outstanding IPA! Find a vendor near you!
See http://www.bridgeportbrew.com/ (http://www.bridgeportbrew.com/)

Drink Sensibly or join AA!

Bridgeport is good.

My favorite for a while has been Total Domination IPA from Ninkasi:

Bell's Two Hearted is an amazing IPA in my opinion. Give it a try if you've never had it before. Not all IPA's are the same but you usually can't go wrong. Ranger IPA from New Belgium is also a decent ipa

I don't tend to drink a lot of IPAs, but Old Empire India Pale Ale is pretty good. I've also had a few assorted microbrew IPAs (Half Pints in Winnipeg has a good one, as does Granville Island Brewery in Vancouver).

I prefer stouts & porters,
Don't have too much experience with those types. Guinness is good and Flying Dog's Gonzo Imperial Porter (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/68/24071) is pretty good. Although, I couldn't see myself drinking them all the time.

But who drinks it??? Rubbish beer (if you would call it one). It's for airports and the Brits (they seem to love it there).

Yeah, the poms actually love it more than us Aussies! ;)

Like I said, I go for bitter myself (or rather should I say did, I am a recovering alcoholic.)

Cheers anyway, ;)

Just tried a IPA and witbier combination (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/158/49436) the other day. It was okay, but I still prefer the regular style IPA and aren't a huge fan of any of the Belgian wheat beers I've tried yet.

My next adventure is to find and try a black/dark IPA.

BMC (brewer's code for Bud-Miller-Coors) have to produce enormous amounts of beer daily. The customers expect consistency, on a product that, naturally, doesn't have it. Besides that, BMC is catered to what Americans looked for in a beer, a century ago. They didn't want a tasty beer: they wanted a light, refreshing beer, they could sit down, relax, and drink a lot of without getting wasted, after spending the whole day working like animals, and that wouldn't keep them from going to work the next day. About the filtering, it's kinda the same deal: yeast in suspension is not for everyone. Aside from the taste, some people just can't drink it without getting a headache, or digestive problems. That's why big beer companies filter it out of their products.

I have enjoyed the beers that come from Ububroue brewery (http://www.unibroue.com/en/home/). Maudite and Trois Pistoles are probably my favorites. If I had to select one of those clear water type beers I would select La Fin Du Monde.
