what happened to my google homepage?

i dont know when i noticed because i didnt think much about it when i first saw it, but now its bugging me. my google homepage has gone all white. i mean, the word "google" is no longer colored, its just white with a faint grey outline. and my background image is gone, and the "change background image" button is gone. refreshing the page and even closing firefox does nothing. also, google instant isnt working either (even when in the results page). what the hack is happening?

If you had a personalized Google page, you can still get to it by adding '/ig' on the end.

www.google.com/ig
