Switching back and forth between Windows and Ubuntu I have come to wish for a "Boot Into [OS]" option in the start menu and its Ubuntu equivalent to automatically reboot the computer into the other[s] OS. A pipe dream, i am sure, but is there already some similar hack/program that would allow for this?

Not sure what you're asking, but booting into EITHER OS is going to require shutting down the other OS first.

Either Linux or Windows will provide you the feature of adding OS entries to their boot menu -- although Linux is generally easier to use.

Next time you're in Ubuntu, open a terminal and enter "sudo update grub". That will regenerate the GRUB menu for you.

When you reboot, you should then see a selection menu.

What I was looking for was bipassing the grub menu and automatically rebooting into Ubuntu from Windows, or Windows from Ubuntu.
For Instance, I am currently on Ubuntu 11.04. I click on the little power symbol at the top right corner and I want an option that says, "reboot into [OS]" right near Reboot, Shutdown, etc

You sure?? I looked at that and only saw LINUX options. I thought you wanted to switch back and forth between Linux and MS Windows without rebooting.
