Hello there. Just installed the latest version of Ubuntu on a super old Compaq Presario SR2150NX Desktop. Everything installed fine and works great, except I have no internet connection. There is no wireless card so I just rely on the ethernet, but for some reason it won't detect the connection. I've tested the same ethernet wire on multiple other computers and it works fine, the internet itself isn't the problem..

I'm VERY new to Linux and don't know where I would begin to fix this problem... but hopefully its obvious to someone else on here! I apologize if this question is already answered somewhere else... but any help you can give is greatly appreciated :)

Hi
check your etc/resolv.conf

I use the following;

# Generated by NetworkManager
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
nameserver 8.8.4.4

then

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

See what happens

I navigated to /etc but I couldnt find that file. I made a new one with that same name and info in it, but after restarting the network interface and restarting the computer nothing has changed..
