Toshiba Tecra. I'd like to upgrade from 9.01 to 11.04 but soon as I select 'Install Ubuntu' on the DVD I just get a screen of scrolling text files rolling by continuously.
Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks.
(I tried installing Kubuntu and Xubuntu and get the same thing):confused:

you cant directly jump from 9.10 to 11.04
9.10 -> 10.04 -> 10.10 -> 11.04
or better, make a fresh install

Sorry. This is a fresh install from this month's Linux Format mag.. I've put DVD in slot and it's booting to that rather than the hard disk. It gives me a choice of installing Ubuntu, Kubuntu or Xbuntu and, which ever I choose, I get the scrolling text.
Earlier I did try the gradual upgrade but every version except 9.10 gives me very sluggish and jerky windows when I drag them around the desktop.
Much appreciate your advice. Thanks

Firstly, the scrolling text is normal. How long did you let things run before stopping? Did you even see a desktop?
Please post the computer specifications.
Thanks.
