With Ubuntu 11.04 Firefox is always on. How do I go about turning it off so that it only turns on when I want it on? As it is now I can't get to Google or the internet because if I click Firefox I am told that it is already running and need to close it first. But I see no means to close it.
Thanks.

I assume you are using Unity? How about when you alt-tab?
Enter goggle.com in the address bar, and what happens?
Somewhere at the top-left of the screen is an "x" to exit Firefox.

gordintoronto,
Thanks for the reply. I'm not using unity, my hardware is too old and doesn't support. I played around a bit today and solved my problem. Firefox is under "applications" and "internet under that. I was able to turn it off from there.
