I have downloaded the Ubuntu 11.04 32 bit ISO and burn't it to a CD ROM at burn speed x4.0. I put the disc in my laptop, rebooted it and used boot from CD. It first came up with a picture of a keyboard or something equals (=) and a stickman with a circle around him. Then it the screen turned pink and it said ubuntu with 5 dots like a loading bar. They dots stop blinking and the disc stops spinning and it stays at the pink screen. Why?

Reboot off the cd, when the little stickman shows press the space bar and select check cd or something to those words to make sure you have a good burn. Also did you check the md5sum of the iso before you burned it.

No I did not check the md5sum. I do not even know what that is. How do I do it?

How to md5sum:

Although you've burned your CD, a useful link. Burning ISO Howto:

But simply run the CD integrity check that dFlyer suggested. If the CD passes the integrity check, then you can assume the downloaded ISO was good.

After you tap a key when the stickman and keyboard icons appear, and after you choose your language, the disc integrity check is third in the menu, if I remember correctly.
