I haven't got Lubuntu as such, I've installed LXDE to try it out with Ubuntu 11.04 sometimes. For it to be practical for me I need the battery icon and Network Manager on the panel. I'm assuming this can be done easily enough as Linux Mint LXDE has got it, or Network Manager at least. i need NM to easily start my Mobile Broadband dongle's connection.

Also, can touchpad tapping be turned off in LXDE, and how? I have it set up to have no tapping in regular Ubuntu but this is undone when I boot LXDE.

Thanks.

...For it to be practical for me I need the battery icon and Network Manager on the panel...

Just right click on a blank area of the LXDE panel/task-bar.
Select Add/Remove Panel Items > Panel Applets.
Click Add button, then add the Battery Monitor & the Network Status Monitor.

I stumbled on the full answer just now. relevent to my use of Mobile Broadband the full Gnome Network Manager is added to the lxde panel by ticking te relevent box after clicking the menu icon > preferences > desktop session settings. Then logout and back in or reboot.
