Ok what I would like to do is create a custom ubuntu installation cd. This cd would install all my current settings, preferences, programs, etc. I would like to do this for backup purposes. Would this be possible? No personal documents or files are going to be saved to this cd. I am currently doing a lot of tweaking to my system and I have had to reinstall ubuntu and windows about three times and i'm getting a little annoyed everytime I reinstall ubuntu I have to set ionic he way I like it with all the settings and reinstalling all the prorgasm I need.

You could try Clonezilla.
