I need a simple basic muscial keyboard I can install on my PC in Ubuntu. It doesn't need to be anything fancy just an ability to play the basic musical notes. Any sugestions?

Thanks
Katya

VMPK (Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard) is what i use if i don't have my midi keyboard available. Works fine for me. You'll find it in synaptic.

OK thanks for that. :)

The only thing is, if I'm understanding it correctly, it doesn't produce sound by itself which I need. Can I add a synthesizer to get sound?

Can anyone tell me how I get the sound if the keyboard doesn't produce it itself?
Or any that do?

Thanks
Katya

Install yoshimi, it is a synth with a virtual keyboard included.

Thank you, looks good.

I installed Yoshimi and tried to start it and get the following silly message:

"Bad things happened... Yoshimi strategically retreats!"
