Hello,

yesterday i upgraded my ubuntu netbook edition to version 11.
Everything worked fine, but after the login screen, which is working fine, i have only the background picture: no panels, no menues, no interaction with the system apart from ctrl-alt-del...
Commandlines are working fine but it is imposible to run any x-window "127.0.0.1:0.0 - Can't open display"...
I can restart my x-server but nothing is changing.
Falling back to previous installed version is changing nothing...
I was using google for simular problems but no solution worked...

Looks like the upgrade was buggy...

Thanks for help...

Welcome to UF.
Try rebooting once or twice at first.
You can do this by holding down both the AltGr and SysRq(PrtSC) keys then pressing R E I S U B in turn.

Thanks,
rebooting works, ctrl-alt-del shows the screen for rebooting, further works ctrl-alt-f1 for console but nothing else ...
Rebooting and restarting of the x-system is not changing anything... :(
Restarting of the x-system is showing the login-screen perfect but after login is only the background shown and nothing else is happening appart from reboot...
