view emf undet ubuntu

well , i have no idea if this is the right forum for this , but if not please redirect me to the right one. So what i would like to know is how to open some *.emf files under ubuntu either then using open office to do this. because the server where the pisc are located does not have the open office

I don't know if this will help but I read somewhere by changing the extension to .gz the file would be readable in Ubuntu but as I said, this is an "untested by me" solution. Good Luck.
