Hello, my classic desktop is a combo of gnome and unity, with a bunch of overlapping menues on top.
How do I fix it?

You can reinstall Unity afterwards if you'd like
sudo apt-get remove unity
sudo reboot(for changes to take place)
to reinstall later:
sudo apt-get install unity
