install ubuntu

hi every one,
please help
i am having problem with ubuntu installation, i want to install it along with windows xp. i have two cds one with ubuntu and another with edubuntu addons., i am getting error while using the addon cd. .tried 2,3 times..getting the following errors

1.log file error.
2. failed to run gnome -app-install-addon-cd="/media/cdrom" as user root, unable to copy the users xauthorization file.
3. sorry, the package "kig 4.4.2.2 oubuntu 1 failed to install or upgrade.
please help me to resolve this pblm

Have you checked the md5sum of the downloaded iso files?

If they are ok you could also check the cd's for errors during the start process by pressing any key at the first purple screen then selecting the menu entry for it.
