Hi guys, I'm new to Linux and decided I would start with Kubuntu. I'm a little confused on user creation. So during the installation process before re-boot, your asked to create a user. Now is this user root or is this my everyday login that I sudo root. I've read the documentation and still confused sorry. Glad to be here and I'm very excited about Linux. Thank you in advance for your help.

This would be your everyday user account, as root account is disabled by default in ubuntu.
You can sudo to it, but by default you can't login with that account.

You guys have been awesome. Just one last follow up question. Do I have to give it a system/machine name during installation?

Typically one does. It's been awhile since I installed, so that parts a bit hazy. I typically give it a friendly name regardless. Then I ssh into the box via hostname. I find them a little easier to remember than IP addresses.
