this just happened when using ardour,i was trying to create sends for effects instead of like 3 effects on like 6 tracks and it froze up.....:(

You need to increase your frames setting, 128 would only work if you have good hardware and a low latency kernel installed.

The latency you can get depends on your hardware, so I can't tell you what to set it as. Integrated soundcards are not designed for low latency audio work, so just increase the frames until it is happy.

Also try disabling any CPU scaling (right click on the task bar and add the applet), and running jack in synchronous mode (just add "-S" to the server path in qjackctl).

/usr/bin/jackd is the server path and i added -S and it said it could not connect,under setup is that what you meant?

Yes that is what I meant, but I think that option only works on jack2.

Do you have the realtime box checked in jack setup? It will run much better in realtime mode. Soft mode may also help cut down on xruns.

Ok thanks man yea i have that checked,they are less{the x-runs},how do i get jack 2 and what is its difference and is jack 2 better,i have not been able to understand how to change a program;say hydrodrums(h2).9.4 which i have into the .9.5version,could you help me figure it out?I havemany progrrams I want to update ,like zynsubfx into yoshimi.T

jack2 is the same as jack1, but it has support for dual core CPUs, so it may work a little better for some people. If you have jack1 I would stick with it for the time being.

I explained about newer software in the thread you posted to in the studio forum, which should cover what you mention here.
