The videos skip constantly. Does this happen to you? It's not the connection. I'll have 30 seconds of video in the buffer, and it still skips every 5 seconds. It's not the hardware. I have a 3.1 Phenom dual core, 4 GB RAM, and a NVIDIA GTS 250. It's nothing to call home to mother about, but more than capable of playing youtube videos. It's not the OS; whether I'm using Ubuntu, or Win7 it still happens. It's a very annoying problem. If it's not youtube that's causing the problem, do you have any ideas of what it could be?

Fine here. 9600GT proprietary drivers, 2GB ram and some experimental 64-bit flash plugin on 64-bit arch.

While this skipping is occurring my system idle process is at 80% or so, so I don't think it's a bug, or rouge process, or anything.

Have you tried enabling YouTube's HTML5 player? http://www.youtube.com/html5

Interestingly enough, the problem seems to be gone now. I installed a flash update over the weekend, maybe there was some kind of regression, or something. Perhaps the fact that it didn't work when I was running Ubuntu yesterday was just a coincidence, as it seems to be working fine now as well.

Wow, the downloading of YouTube videos goes much faster with the HTML5 player. Thanks for the suggestion!

I will love it! :) Something strange happened though. I had to download it and then drag it to the address bar to install it. Shouldn't it install automatically?

Edit: XPI isn't in my content type and application settings. ??? Perhaps that's the problem.

Not when you download from my web site. If you want automatic installation, then install from Mozilla site. To get the latest version, see https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/flashvideoreplacer/versions/

I see. I didn't realize it was only automatic when downloaded from Mozilla. I was starting to thing something was wrong with my browser. :) Thanks!
