Hi,
I am contemplating installing ubuntu 9.04 as I have printer drivers for only this version. From a security viewpoint, would it be ok if I don't have latest version?

Thx!

have you tried a recent version, you might find that it'll work without the print drivers.

Not a good idea, as there will be no more security updates of any sort.

What printer gives you this problem?

I have Dell P513W printer. Does the new ubuntu version supports this?

According to this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupportComponentsPrintersDell), it is supported in 10.04 at least. I would recommend 10.04 LTS over 9.04 due to the security issues mentioned above.

Yea, it does tell me 10.04 supports the printer but the problem is when I input my password during installation, it rejects it.

Try using only lowercase letters. I think that is the answer.

unfortunately my original password is also lowercase. I guess maybe 10.04 doesn't support this.
