Problem with install

during the install process (11.04) the screen stalls at "PREPARING TO INSTALL UBUNTU". I've tried booting with the usb stick, cdr and even unchecking "Download updates while installing" but the installation never moves beyond this point

Anyone that can help you will need to know what you're installing it to (computer specs) and have you tried selecting "Try Ubuntu" to see if it will run well on your computer?

Try Ubuntu works seamlessly.

I'm using a Pavillion dv6 notebook win 7 home premium 64bit,
AMD Turion II N530 Dual-Core 2.5 Ghz,
RAM is 4gigs
Graphics is an AMD m880g.
Hard Drive holds 277 gigs.
