Difficult question to give one answer for. For desktops I build them, haven't owned a branded one in many years. For netbooks we tend to have stuck to Asus Eee PCs.

Where is Samsung in this? I'm not the only one here with a Samsung laptop so why not add the option?

Indeed, I have two Samsung laptops and a Samsung netbook - all for use with Windows though.

For Linux I use an old Dell desktop, see below for the current specification.

Where is Samsung in this? I'm not the only one here with a Samsung laptop so why not add the option? I would add but I cant edit it and I need to delete it cause there are ten of them and when there will be lots of them there will be a winner like 121 people voted ASUS. So jus post SAMSUNG and I will count it (-:

I am surprised that HP isn't an option, the newer release laptops aren't that bad at all.

You should have made this multiple-choice. As for what I have:

ASUS.

That's all really. My custom build computer is in my signature.

Just two quad core AMD machines I built myself. Nothing fancy really, they're both a few years old, and they should last me another 5 years.

I build my own.. Well desktops anyway, I have been building my own computers since I was 16. That was around ~1993-94 when PC shops started realy selling hardware on a regular basis, until then I just bought a machine then purchased extra stuff to go into it.
Since home built laptops are expensive, ugly and somewhat cumbersome, I have grown to a love/hate relationship with Dell laptops.

I have the following computers:
- Compaq Presario R3000 laptop
- Two Acer Aspire One netbooks (one for me and one for my wife)
- HP Pavilion Elite desktop
- Old crappy P4 Dell desktop
- Custom built gaming rig
- Custom built home server

On top of that I probably have enough extra parts to build another two computers (I just do not have any spare cases).

Why is HP/Compaq not an option?

Got a single desktop machine I built myself a few years back for University.

Brief specifications:
- Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
- Intel Q6600 (quad core) + Thermalright Ultra 120
- 4GB DDR2 RAM
- ATI 4870HD 1GB
- 750Gb Samsung HDD
- 2x Western Digital 1.5TB drives (in RAID 1 configuration)

My parents have a 6 year old (roughly) desktop from a local computer shop, and my brother has a 2010 Vaio laptop.

My main computer is self build. Intel dual core, 2GB RAM, 80GB hard disk, Nvidia 9300GE graphic card. The other 2 are IBM ThinkCenter with Pentium 4, 1GB RAM and 80GB hard disk and Acer PowerMate Pentium 4 1.5GHz 512MB RAM and a 10GB hard disk. That is why I vote for other.

I agree; eMachines is owned by Acer.

btw, you should vote Packard Bell if you have an HP. Same company.

My everyday computer is self-built and pretty good specs. Fedora 15 runs like it was made for my hardware. Other than that, I just test laptops or netbooks before I buy them.

Mine is in my sig. The case isn't stock though. I'm not sure what brand the case is. It was a lot more roomier than the stock case. It allowed me to add an extra fan that blows on the gfx card. It also has two front USB ports that the original didn't have.

I have another PC in a stripped down case. The parts came from an old Gateway eMachine. Celeron @ 2GHz, 512MB RAM, DVD,CD R/RW. I use it as a print server that doubles as a test box.

My netbook gets the most use - it's an HP (actually Compaq-branded) Mini 110 with 2GB RAM, a software-overclocked video chipset, a 60GB OCZ Agility 2 and an Intel 6200 a/b/g/n wireless card. Since HP netbooks whitelist WLAN and WWAN cards in BIOS this required some BIOS hacking, but I didn't make the hack - I just applied it. I guess that makes me a script kiddie :D

Desktop PC is a mildly overclocked Core i7-920 with a 64GB Corsair Extreme boot drive and a 1TB Samsung data drive. 6GB RAM and a GF9500GT.

Both machines run Kubuntu 11.04.
