I have been using and loving ubuntu for a long time but decided to try kubuntu. On my desktop I downloaded the iso to cd and ripped it. Booted to disc and installed the software using the entire drive. Now when I go to log in I put in my user name and password and it tries to start. It shows a loading screen of the disc drive and x some tools and then returns to the log in. I cannot get into the software. As I said I am new to kubuntu and don't know what to do. Please help!

I'm not sure I understand the process you used. Are you saying you burned the ISO file to a data disk then extracted it?

First thanks a thousand for the response, I am desperate to get this working. I followed the steps that it gives to you and the same process that you use for the ubuntu disc load. By the way I tried doing another boot to disc and just did a trial (not install) to see if it would let me on and it worked just fine, slow, but working. So the trial works but the actual installed software does not.
