I am an artist and I am looking for a good piece of software that allows me to import images that I have scanned and copied to my laptop and manipulate them anyway that I want. I ultimately want to create clothing and other accessories with designs that I make for a club I am creating. The one major feature I am looking for is to mirror an image and join the 2 images together to make one image. I have a wing I have drawn and I want to be able to create an exact mirror of it and join the halves together so that it is all one piece. What software can do this?

You could try hugin as a standalone app or fotoxx, neither of which I have used. I have, however, often used gimp with pandora plugin with pretty good results for stitching photographs together.

thanks dude! i will locate those and give them a try. I did find a program through the ubuntu software center that is the gnome version of MS Paint. that might work but I will try those programs as well.
I had it installed on my laptop already but I added the add-ons that were available for it. I'll try it out tomorrow. Don't have time tonight. But thanks for pointing me in that direction!!!!

As he said, I'd definitely recommend GIMP. If you've ever used Photoshop, it's quite similar to that, though lacks some of the more in depth features.
