No, because GNOME2 and GTK2 need to die.

No, because GNOME2 and GTK2 need to die.
I agree. But why not upgrade to gnome 3?

What's the point? Ubuntu 11.10 comes with Gnome 3 and Unity interface. Furthermore, you can install both:
sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
gnome-shell gives you the Gnome-shell interface available at login. gnome-session-fallback gives you the classic Gnome 2 panel/metacity interface. With all the libraries, we are talking about 20 or so packages.
There is no point in making a separate distribution for 20 packages.

A derivative that the only thing it has different is the look? What's the point? I can change the theme anytime I want in regular ubuntu.

Why cling to the past?

I voted NO as there are already sufficient derivatives and flavors of Ubuntu (Kubuntu/Xubuntu/Lubuntu). Between those and the great variety of themes available, I see no need for a "classic-looking" derivative.
