Why can't I change the width of the 'Name' column in File Manager's list view?
The <==> symbol appears when I move the mouse over the edge of the column, but doesn't change the width. It's very annoying, because the name column is soo wide that I can't see the other columns.

see if this helps:

in nautilus go to edit>preferences

and check the box for all columns to have same width
