View Full Version : [ubuntu] Help with fresh new java installation & bitdefender installation.

1--I instaledl bitdefender using this command - sudo sh BitDefender-Antivirus-Scanner-7.6-4.linux-gcc4x.i586.deb.run
But am getting around 5000 i/o errors???

2---i want to install Java & i used Synoptic Package manager to do so but when i checked with firefox plugins it said my Java is outdated. Can anyone outline the command & steps to install java re & plugin after i download it directly from Java.com

cuz i followed the step from Java.com & it says type su & my password fails to authenciate

Enable Canonical repositories in synaptic. reload package lists. Ensure you install Sun Java not the open alternative.

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp- Version 6 Update 26 is the latest but in the synaptic package the version avaiable is 6.24

so i need -- how to install by downloading from java.com & using terminal ?
