Mystery. Developers deleted a handy tool,,, System, Applications,

Okay it's in a hard to get to icon on the panel to the left but this feature is plain not user friendly.

used Ubuntu from 8.04 but, I've spent hours,,,,

I don't get developers fixing a methodology not broken.

Once you have download a program what terminal apt can be used to copy its icon to your work panel?
I tried sudo apt-get install thunderbird icon, but this got me no where.

System, Applications.... not user friendly.

do a terminal
<sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop>
insert password
select kde only from kde or gnome
<sudo apt-get remove ubuntu-desktop>
<sudo apt-get autoremove>

this gives you a historically uniform desktop, which I believe is better than what you find in 11.04 Natty

as i ask on this post and [kubuntu] sudo remove 11.04, I would sure like help so I could solely have kde. looking away temporarily causes me not to be able to remove the Ubu Natty left border launchers, which is not as convenient as prior desktop layouts found on 8.04 though 10.10 ubuntus I have known.

look forward to your guidance
