I just downloaded the ubuntu ISO file (32 bit) and it is 701mb. Is there a more compact version since CDs are 700mb?

Welcome to the forum!

I'm a bit puzzled by what you say. None of the released CD images of Ubuntu are over-sized as far as I know. The daily image of the development version is often over-size, but you wouldn't want that.

Which version of Ubuntu is it, 10.04, 10.10 or 11.04? Where did you download it from? Was it a conventional download or a torrent? What is the filename of the ISO?

I'd suspect there's soemthing wrong with the download.

Check it's md5sum.

I got it right from the Ubuntu site, v 11.04.
I will check the md5sum.
Thanks.
