Hello all,

I need to install a porn blocker on a computer with Ubuntu 10.04. I have used OpenDNS, and although it works, it doesn't work well enough. I want to install a porn blocker that i have to go into the terminal to disable. I am thinking about putting DansGuardian, but all the websites I look at are really confusing because I am new to Ubuntu and computer jargon. I have used WebContentControl, but it was too easy for the user I am blocking to uninstall or disable/renable. Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

maybe that will work for you
if they use a live cd to bypass good luck

None of these proxies works 100 %, the default settings will get you in the ball park so to speak, but you will likely have to customize the filters.

For what you want, Dansguardian is easier to configure then squid, IMHO

I use OpenDNS and it works pretty well. It protects every host on my LAN.

Hello,
Dansguardian is the way to go. It is a reliable filter. While, it requires you to learn how to adjust it to meet your needs you will find it easy to customize. Also it comes with a gui, in case you are just starting.

The following is my step-by-step installation guide:
