I am trying to install on a compaq nx7010 laptop for a friend. I can get as far as the screen which gives me a choice between Try Ubunbtu and Install Ubuntu, but which ever one I select it just goes nowhere.
I know it only has 256mb of ram, but I don't think that should be the cause, or is it?
I am currently doing the unthinkable and reinstalling windows on it with a view to using the windows installer, so the cd drive is ok.
I have tried 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04 all with the same result, I know the cd's are ok as they have been previously used and I made a fresh 11.04 one just in case.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Solved! I found a 10.04 LTS iso on an external drive, burnt it and it is now installed!
