I'm looking for a free service (filehost/epublishing platform) that allows direct linking. In, other words, I wish to offer downloads (PDF & EPUB) of a few documents on my website, and instead of having them on my own server, I wish to embed a link on my website instead; thus saving bandwidth... Do you have any suggestions?

Dropbox would do that.

Thanks for your quick reply! Do you know if they have any limitations on Bandwidth?

None that I know of; some rather popular ebooks are offered for download via dropbox.

Cheers guys! I'll look into Dropbox.

But do you have to install their program in order to use the service?

Installing their client makes things easier, just drop the files into the public dropbox folder on your computer and it will automatically sync those files with the dropbox servers. But you don't have to install their program, just upload the files from their website.

OK; good to know. You see, I've had bad experience with syncing before, Ubuntu One for instance doesn't work good unless I upload stuff directly from their web-page (Don't know why). I'll probably not use this service so often that I'll need to install the client.

And regarding bandwidth, it doesn't seem like the are any limitations.

you can upload any kind of file and then share a link
but for embedding it tries to convert them first to google docs

Yes, that's what cap10Ibraim has been saying. It would be an alternative,
but on the other hand I admit that I'm not a big fan of google. But I'm
thankful for every suggestion you guys throw at me. ;)
