I am a new and very inexpert ubuntu user and now I'm having a big problem it seems I can't solve alone. I decided to upgrade my old macbook pro from ubuntu 10.10 to the latest version but during the installation something went wrong and my mac freezed. I restarted it and it appeared the log in page but I couldn't insert my password and not even move because it seems my trackpad doesn't work any longer. I then decided to reinstall ububtu 10 from dvd (even if I lose the data it's not a big deal) but t seems my computer can't reboot from dvd. I'm doing something wrong but I don't know what. Can you please help me? Thanks!

That's strange. Have you tried making a USB Live Bootable version of 10.10?

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/10.10/release/

Maybe you will have better success that way?

Here is a nice guide getting everything setup as well:
