no keyboard after install

After Ubuntu installation I get no keyboard.
-I have installed Ubuntu desktop 10.04 LTS from a boot CD
-The keyboard worked during setup and insttallation, and grub
After that my keyboard stops working. I am in the ubuntu desktop, i can use mouse but keyboard is dead.

More:
I can use keyboard in bios, winXP, GRUB and ubuntu in recovery mode
Keyboard model: "Microsoft wired keyboard model 600" (USB)

Any tips?

Have you tried 10.10 and 11.04?

no I did not try other versions, but I think my keyboard is working now.

Not sure if any of this could have caused this problem:
-I have removed a usb pen from my PC (it was connected since linux installation)
-I have finnaly connected internet in conditions on ubuntu (the default MTU value was giving problems) and I could make some software updates that diid hang up during install (not sure what software)

Both could be the explanation. Trying out things on your own is always a good way of troubleshooting.
