PSN 'Welcome Back' question

I've just got my PS3 back online since PSN is back-up, and chose Wipeout and Infamous as my free games.

Thing is, Infamous is over 7Gb, and I'm on a 10Gb a month broadband contract, if I go over, they rape me (money wise :s)

So, I've pause the download at 50%, to make sure I'm under the 10Gb usage limit.

If I wait till next month to download the rest, will it let me do so? I think the PSN Welcome back is only valid for 30 days, but surely if its in your downloads list its safe after the promotion ends?

PS- what games did everyone else choose?

short answer is yes.

Sony allows you to re-download anything you purchased (or said yes to).

How do I know... I purchased a new hard drive and re-downloaded all my content that I forgot about.

Was gonna go for LittleBigPlanet, but looks like a mario-wannabe for kids :(

As a side note, I think you also get 30 days free Playstaion Plus, which has free full games and content to download aswell, although I think these will disable themselves after the 30 days is over.

I still think Sony could have offered something more, either a wider choice of games, or may credit that you could use in store.

I almost went over to Xbox (yeah, I know), untill I heard they were releasing Ico/Shadow of Collussus and MGS2/3 HD releases. I creamed my pants at this news :D

You get 30 days to download once you've activated the welcome back. For example I'm not going to activate it since I've got exams and my internet connection at college doesn't allow me to download two games. Just going to wait till after and voila :)

As for the playstation plus, I've been told you get to keep your downloads even if you don't keep using plus.

Just be glad you get something. They could have easily just said we fixed it, keep playing as you did. And that would be that.

People keep acting like because Sony dropped the ball (which they did, horribly) they are entitled to super benefits. Ok you payed for the playstation, but you get a free online platform. Free, so imHo people should stop whining. If you don't like the downloads they're not forcing you to get any of them.

As for the playstation plus, I've been told you get to keep your downloads even if you don't keep using plus.Depends, the free PS+ stuff will only be active aslong as you have PS+ (you can activate it again after it ran out by subscribing to PS+), the price reduced stuff you bought belongs to you forever.

And LBP being Mario for kids? it will never turn into the platforming classic that mario is, but its not "for kids" any more than mario is... whatever you even meant by that :D

When I say for kids, I mean that lbp is not really that challenging. Go back and play Super Mario 3 and you will see that is a lot more challenging than most games are these days.... except Demons Souls, thats a very hard game :(

Go back and play Super Mario 3 and you will see that is a lot more challenging than most games are these days.... except Demons Souls, thats a very hard game :(Thats a general trend though, recent marios aint better in that regard. im kinda torn wether I like it or not... on the one hand I dont have that much time anymore so games that make it easier to get through the end without replaying sections tens of times is welcome, let alone old games that had you start over from the effin start after you died a couple games or just were totally unfair in spots really were a curse.
But then theres the lack of accomplishment if you just can breeze through it.
Adjustable difficulty might work, in the world of LBP you could just download some hard-as-nails customs levels. And its no valid argument as Infamous is **** easy aswell ;)

Easy games were most people get to see were all the millions spent on artists are definitly selling alot better too.
But in case you havent already got it, "Super Stardust" would fit your urge for bloody hard games, I still havent finished 2 planets

Given the amount of personal data that was leaked because of Sony's screwups, they kind of do owe their users something, even if the online service was free. Facebook gets in trouble for the same thing, and it's a free service.

This is the compensation for the loss of your private data, which btw wasnt their fault. Hackers did steal the data, Sony mightve been negligent with their security but if you want to hang them because of that you need specialists and possibly a court to decide if they really are guilty (and not some random blurbs from the net).

The "welcome back" offer is compensation for the loss of service, there are optional services you can pay for (PS plus, some MMOs I think). Its not unreasonable to expect such an offer, but it still is generous that you got anything at all.
