I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on a HP DL 320 - I am using the gnome desktop as I prefer this method of managing my server. My DL 320 is configured or rather has iLo and I am able to access a console session directly. The continuing problem I am running into is that when I either access the sever via an iLo session or using xrdp I get the following error when I try to run the Synaptic Package Manager -
Failed to run /usr/sbim/synaptic as user root.
Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file.
Yet when I am physically at the server logged in can run the application. Again I realize that I can update the source.list file via that command line - however I would prefer to use the GUI.
