Cairo-dock and/or Compiz problems after reinstall.

I've reinstalled my system countless times. I usually load saved profiles for Compiz and Cairo-dock made by said apps or save the .compiz or ~/.config/cairo-dock from the home folder of the old install to copy to the new install's home folder. This time, neither of those methods eradicated the problems I've been encountering. Cairo-dock is my main problem. I've always had it set to "Keep the dock hidden" and it's always reappeared over maximized windows once I moused to the top or bottom edge of the screen (I've got docks on top and bottom). Now, I have to switch to a different desktop or minimize windows to access the dock. When I raised the transparency of my windows I see the dock does appear, but it's inaccessible behind the window. Does anyone know what I did wrong this time?
