Hi there, im sure this has been logged as a bug but try as i might, on google i cant find a resolve.

Im trying to dual boot a samsung n130 netbook with the latest ubuntu distro being installed form a usb stick. The pc boots from the usb absolutely fine however all i get is a ";" at the top right corner. Any button presses make the usb light blink for a few seconds and place another ";".

I have tried the make usb from the iso and also the live usb application from pendrivelinux.com

what am i doing wrong?

Have you checked the md5sum of the downloaded iso file?

Not checked the MD5SUM but it was a direct download from ubuntu.com (not a mirror) and the cd mounted and copied fine in XP using the makeusb

First thing is to check the md5sum. Any download from anywhere can get corrupted.
Second thing might be to re-make the usb with something like Unetbootin. I am not familiar with makeusb.

Edit: Or use jerrys excellent suggestion :-)
