View Full Version : [ubuntu] who to dim the lightness of screen

Hi there
I've an acer laptop and I want to dim the light of its screen 'cause I find its lightness is hight
My operation is Linux 10.4
I used the keyboards keys but it change nothing although I decrease it to the end
who can help me to know the way of dim that lightness^ ^
and is there something to put on the screen to protect our eyes form the screen beams

If it's a hardware issue (I'm no expert on Acer support), try smartdimmer. It's a handy gnome app that lets you reduce brightness etc.

Or else, right click on a panel, select "Add to panel", and then search for brightness applet. This should work even if your keys don't.

theres no way u can do it im sorry if you are useing the desktop one

Are you able to bring up the brightness controls on the panel? If you are and it doesn't work from there then it's a hardware issue and you should check out smartdimmer as a workaround.
